On the 21st September, KUMA repeated its annual autumn event, a welcome social for the newly qualified Foundation Year 1 Doctors, held in Butler’s Wharf, London. It was a great opportunity to meet both new and familiar faces, and to share each other’s experiences; finding common ground in the new experiences of the new doctors, but also hearing from the seniors about their workday, and how the nature of the job will change depending on the specialty they will go on to choose.
We had doctors who attended from Coventry, Surrey, London and Portsmouth. Overall, it was a relaxed and informal event, allowing an open space to share and ask questions freely. As an annual event hosted by KUMA, it remains a good forum and social for newly starting doctors to make friendships and meet potential mentors in specialties they may be interested in.
